Been suspicious about this one's sex. She has a bigger comb than all her sisters and tail sticks up

Tail is irrelevant at this age.

But barred breeds... the males white stripes will be wider than black as they get a double dose of the barring gene from their mum. They can sometimes be identified by the giant white spot on the head.

What is the age of your chicks? They can mature at slightly different rates... there is no red in the comb or waddles that I can see yet... if it develop before 8 weeks, then ya.. cockerel.

Right now you MIGHT be able to go of leg thickness and behavior, but that can subjective. :pop

Kinda funny I tail is irrelevant but go on to ask what age. :p

For 4 weeks, I'm not seeing anything screaming cockerel yet. Many of my boys can be well identified by then, some (a Silkie) even crowing. All are individual though and MANY will develop a bit later than this still. Those bars are still looking female to me. But don't give up hope, if your allowed and able to have one. ;)

Are they supposed to be pullets?

Yes, but many people were telling me they were all actually roos when I first got them. So I wasn't sure
