Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I ended up with more SFH cockerels than pullets so one of the guys went in with the egg flock for a while. There is a pretty little Ameraucana in there and I saved her eggs. They hatched Friday. I was wishing for beards, muffs and crests. This is what I got. Looks promising! The color is a bit off because I forgot to pop up the flash on the camera.

Can't wait to see if they take on any of the speckles of the SFH's. That would be so cool. Keep us updated on these chicks, would you? Thanks

KKH - Of course, I will!

I did have 4 SFH's hatch, too. They all look just like their parents did. As before, the color is off because I forgot the flash. That towel is light blue.

Four of our Swedish Flower Hen Chicks are CRESTED - woo hoo! Below are pictures of a couple of them. My 2 week olds. Only had 4 hatch, of that only 3 survived. Right now it looks like all 3 may be crested. Not good. What do you think??

why is it not good that they are all crested?

These are the only SFH's I have. If I'm lucky enough to NOT have 3 pullets or 3 roos then I'm worried that breeding crested will result in too large of a crest. Is this not an issue?

I'm new to this and would appreciate being set straight on this if I'm wrong.

Wimberleytexaschick has a big batch of SFH's hatching this weekend... we got our 12 adorable chicks from her and I recommend her very highly! We ended up with a lovely assortment of colors and 1/3 of them have crests - which I just love!
