Swedish Flower Hen Thread

.
Your birds are gorgeous. Do hatch with an incubator? What is your success rate? We have a cheap plastic incubator, hoping to upgrade one day. I'm wondering how much success we will have hatching chicks if the hens don't go broody.

I have shipped chicks & eggs all over the country. Let me know if you are interested in new stock this fall.

Can someone post a picture of the eggs they get from their Swedish Flowers.
I am either going to get these or Buff Plymouth Rocks next year

Here's a picture of Swedish Flower Hen eggs.

I've heard both SFH and Cemani are had to hatch in an incubator, we have some silkies and I'm hoping they will hatch some out for us if the incubator doesn't work.
I bought from someone who had no problem hatching their own in a bator.... All lovely and healthy. Don't know their actual hatch rate though.

I have both breeds and so did the person I got my SFH (theirs was 2015 GFF stock).

My rocks are barred not buff, but I think still same characteristics. I would chose SFH between the 2. The rocks will be harder to tell apart and they can be kind of bossy. I love having a mix of eye candy in the yard. Both will forage if you are free ranging but I think the SFH are a little better at it. Also they mature earlier and lay a large amount of eggs, and have a good carcass weight and more likely to go broody than the rocks (is a plus for me). They said they lay more than their leghorns where I got mine. Because they are slightly smaller they will consume less feed than rocks as well.

If you are not breeding, try both!

I wish I could try both! Sadly I can only get one. Definitely leaning towards the SFHs though.

When will my SF cockerels start to crow? I live in the city so I will need to solidify my rooster exit strategy before they start bothering the neighbors. I would like to grow them as big as possible and then process them but I'm not sure if this will work given I will have to take action before the crowing starts. Any advice is much appreciated.
The person I bought frome processes at 23 weeks for SFH... Maybe a no crow collar will work until processing day so you can get a good weight. Then you would be able to use it in the future.
