Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Update:
The chicks are now 3 weeks old and venturing outside of the coop running around and tasting dirt.
I finally can see that I have 5 non-crested and 5 crested chicks.
I'll update on the sex of the group when they start showing.

UPDATE:
So this group got killed by a cat, fox, or group of raccoons I don't know which. But I do have 1 pullet that was saved. She's doing well.

My 3rd hatch of 8 SFH eggs, 6 hatched and the chicks turned out with zero crest. I was happy to see this. Here some chick pictures.

Yep. This was one of my hens as a pullet. She's filled out a lot since this photo. Her hackles have yellow/gold and also a bit down her breast. The rest of her is white with splashes of blue/grey.
Here’s my little Swedish flower ✨ love her head feathers! She has golden stripes in some of her feathers and a few grey streaks

I love the look of this breed. I’m thinking about adding more to my chick order. What Is their overall temperament? I’m looking for friendly, cold hardy, quiet girls. This thread is long! I appreciate the help.

I have had two hens (just one left now) and a roo, and they are gorgeous. They are also obnoxious, and one was really loud, with a hideous screeching voice. No other hen pecks me as hard and relentlessly in the nest box when I reach under her to get eggs, and I have a bunch of different breeds. Friendly? Definitely not. Mine also don’t lay very well at all. The first layed for a year and stopped completely, the second lays sporadically… But gorgeous coloring. The roo goes coocoo every spring and attacks me for a few months. Then he calms down again and is at least half way reasonable. I am not planning on getting more any time soon, but focusing on more mellow breeds. - On the plus side, mine have never gone broody.

Well, I have a feeling the other commenter isn’t spending enough time with their birds. My Swedish flowers are my most interactive and sweet tempered birds. They’ve always been easy to pick up and they’re not skittish or as loud as some of my other birds. They’re cold hardy- mine are still laying and it’s cold cold where I live.

I spend the same amount of time with them as I do with my hens of other breeds… I am glad yours are nicer. Where did you get them? I am pretty sure my first ones were from Meyer’s the second from MPC.
