Here's some pics of my 3 SFH that were hatched out on 8/9

2 Face - the other side of his beak is yellow - I'm thinking a HE?!?

This is 2 Face with my Ancona

This is BB - another Roo?!?

Sorry they're fuzzy, they're very quick! - I'm somewhat new to photography! (that's Bear in the front of the pic. We're looking for a new home for him.)

This is Runt - My little girl.

Any opinions on whether or not the boys are boys are greatly appreciated! They just look way different in the face then Runt.
It does look like you have two roos there. I really like Two Face! I have a whole pen full of BB look alikes. I have to say Runt is the cream of the crop ..beautiful!!

Kimbroe - your birds are lovely! I especially like Runt! She's a very pretty girl - my daughter had a MIlle Fleur Cochin with the same exact coloring :)
My thought is the other two are boys. It can be harder to tell with the crested ones, but judging by the wattles I see... I'm thinking boy :)

So from what I've read. You're not supposed to breed crested to crested? I'm not real sure, this will be my first go at breeding a crested breed. About what age do SFH start laying? I know we're going into winter and it might be a bit later, but was just curious.

I have bred crested to crested and have not seen any issues with it yet, although others have seen vaulted skulls. A friend that I gave some of my chicks to said one of them had an afro, but I haven't gotten over to see it yet, so I don't know how big the crest is.My girls started laying at about 21 weeks.

I noticed BB has a crooked comb. Two of mine do too. Does anyone think this is something to think about when breeding, or should we just work on increasing numbers currently?

All of my boys started out with a crooked comb but then they straightened out, except for the crested birds. Theirs tended to stay a little wavy.

when breeding something to the standard, you would always go with overall body type and size first, then foot/leg color, comb, wing carriage second, and color last... but since the sfh don't have a standard much, i wouldn't worry about any of it, unless somethings definately not 'right'...

My first one started laying at 20 1/2 weeks, another about a week later. The last of the three was about a month after the first. I think that 21 to 23 weeks is probably accurate.
