I would love to find some NON CRESTED blues and darker (read "lots of black") within driving distance that I could pick up!

Hey all - we all know how hard USPS is on fertile hatching eggs, and our SFH eggs seem to be extra sensitive to shipping. So far (knock on wood) folks have been doing pretty well with my shipped eggs, so I wanted to share how I package them for those who might be interested. See it Here.

Oh - and the pink bubble wrap? It was on sale after Breast Cancer Awareness Month. [IMG]

Wishing everybody a happy and successful hatching season!!

I have two that looked like that at the beginning, and now both are a rusty brown black with white. They are still growing, so I can't speak as to what they will finish with as far as coloring.

i just noticed today, my blue sfh girl has some red/buff 'bleed thru' on her neck and chest... so she's not solid blue but a bit of a mix.

she's gonna be purty. 8) all 4 are doing well. i'm wondering if anyone's had any chicks from crested-crested breedings? what do the crests look like?

oh and i moved my broodies last night... this morning when i went out they were both out eating/drinking and digging in the pen... [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] they go back to the nests i made for them. chicks are due friday and i'd rather not have 500 babies in the house.

ok, maybe not THAT many, but it'll seem like it once my sandhill order gets here in 2 weeks... on top of the 20 i've got now, 40+ eggs in lockdown, and more that's been set, etc. [IMG]

This broody I have is making me nuts....I moved her into a nestbox out of the way, came back and found she had rolled the one egg I left her to show her the box out of the box and into the middle of,the coop, where she happily sat. I moved her back into the box, and she moved back into the middle of the coop, making her own nest right in the middle of the coop, there in the litter. I moved the nestbox and egg into the middle of the coop, so we will see if she moves again.
