Swedish Flower Hen Thread

You know there is someone on CL that has a Dickey cabinet hatcher than can do used as an incubator!

I just saw that this morning! Going to ask for more info ;)

ETA: showed the ad and the Dickey website with a photo of the hatcher listed on CL to hubby, who went NO NO NEVER.

I think he saw the size (hundreds of chicks..yay!) and saw our house full of chicks :lau he gave me the look he does not give me often, the one that says, um, you have so many hair brained schemes and I put up with them, but this is not one of them. :gig

Dickey has a really nice 2x2 cabinet they just added to the line that isn't much more than a high end Brinsea....he might go for that, as I couldn't hatch 1200 quail in it...We will see. My birthday is in a few more weeks.

This new boy who will be traveling to Texas to live with Dianne is going to be an extraordinary rooster. At not quite 4 months of age (hatched on May 26, 2013), he is as already big as some of my hens. He is also approximately 2/3-3/4 the size of some of my eight to nine month old roosters. And he is friendly! I will try to post some more recent pictures tomorrow.
How will you get him there?

I will likely get an incubator at some point in the next year. The Genesis 1588 is always highly recommended.

Does anyone have experience with the Brinsea and the 1588? I'd like to hear your thoughts and comparisons.

I know the lady that is selling it. I think it's her. I can highly recommend Dickey's cabinets! And I would say keep the styrofoam incubators to hatch in. Keeps you new incubator clean.

I have 3 of the 1588s and one GQF 2363N. I used the 1588s for incubating and then hatch in the other which is less expensive and without all that costly electronics so I don't worry about all the hatching "fuzz" messing up the electronics on the 1588s. I never tried the Brisnea but did start out with some cheaper Styrofoam models and it's like day and night with the 1588. I love mine and would highly recommend them for an excellent but still reasonably priced table top incubator. Also the 1588 can be powered by the car DC plug or a 12 v battery which came in handy when I had a power outage and a bunch of very expensive eggs incubating. From this point I would only go up to a cabinet model.

I'd love to have a larger incubator too, but like others, i'd be afraid to get in trouble more than I already do. LOL so i'll stick with my 4 hovabataors (3 incubate 1 hatch)
