Good decision. That pic of the blue you posted is not the one I am keeping. That is one if someone is interested is available, otherwise he is going to the butcher in a couple weeks along with the one I have that I didn't post pictures of cause he has horrible split wing.
There's the potential for lots of little mouths to feed! I hope you don't hate me later! lol Exciting to be able to see what my girls are going to produce without having to actually feed them!I candled all of my eggs from TXFlowers last night since it was Day 7 for my 39 Swedish flower hen eggs. Out of 39, I only had 4 clears and 2 early quitters (both due to hairline cracks that I knew about from the beginning). So, I have 33 little ones still swimming!!! I am SO excited because when I candled a few of them really early on, I had marked several as clear or questionable that ended up developing. Woohoo! Now to see if I can keep these odds...
He doesn't have any splits in his wing feathers. I'm not sure what you mean by sprigs but his has a classic single comb with straight, fairly even spacing on the "fingers". Unfortunately he is in that ugly teen stage right now but he is growing in his tail fast (compared to his hatch mates). I'll try to get better pics tomorrow. It can be hard to tell from pictures - I'd love to see more shots of him - like from the side (put the camera down on his level a bit more). Profile shots like this one are better for really looking at conformation:
From this angle you can get a better idea of wing set, tail set, chest, legs, and so on. He looks pretty nice from what I can tell in the picture you posted. Good wing set, round chest. How are his wings? Doesn't look like he has split wing, but it can be hard to tell without handling him. Any sprigs on the comb?
