Swedish Flower Hen Thread

tarheelbirdy!!! I have a baby! Just came out, AND it is....BLACK!
Congrats!!!

ki4got, thank you so much for the info.
jbarrett, congratulations!!!
and I just wanted to share a picture of one of my buff orp/SFH crosses and the 5 chicks she hatched for me!
Awwwwwww! Pretty hen! Do you have bluejean leg curtains up? Too cute!

jbarrett, Congrats on the chick!
I went and picked up my eggs today and placed them in the 'bator. The seller told me that his rooster produces mostly black and charcoal offspring. At the time I bid on the chicks, I didn't realize that there were others in the area that had them, or I might have purchased the eggs elsewhere. I hope to get a variety of colors. :)

Doesn't look too big to me yet, but those crested ones can be sneeky. If it starts getting red or you see red wattles coming down, that's when you know it is a boy.
So you think it might be crested also? I only have one sfh chick so no one to compair it to :) my 7wk old blrw is getting some color to its comb and wattles are coming in pretty red, had always thought it was a pullet but maybe not, I got the blrw with a blue Orpington chick and it was a cockerel for sure very obvious at 4wks!
