Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Fantastic! I agree with you about the native style. I want really colorful birds, but also prefer the uncrested.

I'm another one who likes the uncrested. My 3 don't look like they have any crests plus both of their parents don't have crests, which I'm secretly thrilled about. I can't wait til Sunday morning where I can attempt the second photo shoot. They are looking so different already.

Keeping everything crossed for a great hatch!!!!!

And a shout-out to SunnySkies who I had the pleasure of meeting yesterday! I brought home two lovely roos! We happened to be up in her area, taking my son to visit with his grandparents. SunnySkies is AWESOME and has 4 great kiddos to boot. So happy to have the chance to meet up!

We had such a blast meeting you guys, and my boys were still talking about it this morning! They were sure happy those two roosters will have a great home with girls.

If anyone else needs roosters, I have more than my fair share. I'm keeping two from KYTinpusher. Looks like one of my black chicks will be a roo. Many colors, but I can't keep them all.

The storm is over here as well! Though the sky did get pretty ominus at one point but quickly passed lots of tornado watches today hopefull you north of us will only get a good rain with no damage, just a good rain like we had!

Glad you are safe and drying out. It's raining here but supposed to dry out by the weekend.

well, we've had rain all day, and tomorrow we're supposed to get even more with thunderstorms & such. since the ground is already saturated, it's quite likely that tomorrow's rain will result in local flooding as the water has nowhere else to go.

i'm anticipating more flooding like we had a couple weeks ago (pics posted of my new 'lake' previously). hubby's planned ahead tho and is driving something with more ground clearance this time tho, so he won't have to worry about it as much LOL

Well, it seems as if the sun finally coming out here has kicked these two's hormones into gear; in the last couple days their wattles have become much pinker, and both combs and wattles have grown a bit. Alas! I got fond of these two pretty quick, but I just don't have the knowledge or ability to keep a rooster, let alone two.

Any chance someone in Western WA wants two SFH cockerels?

(ETA: here's the ad I made to re-home them: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/790817/two-swedish-flower-hen-cockerels-to-re-home-seattle-area )

Their combs are much bigger than mine from the same group :( sorry

Very pretty! More white than I have seen on an SFH. :)

LOL!!! Check out this one I got from one of wildhorseannie's eggs!

The dark one has the least amount of white of any of my SFH at this age and the white one... my son has named Snow White. She does have faint blue ticking... but it's hard to see at this point.

I've had 4 that started out almost pure white (Bulldogma has one now) and are almost spitting images of Soren now, beautiful red and white. All males, of course. I also noticed that all of them, if they have a crest, have sprigs.
