Hi, BYC. Last week i unfortunately had to euthanise my chicken, Tammie. My animals are like my children to me hehe, and it was my first animal loss so it was hard, but i knew her condition was worsening and unfortunately too far gone for me to resolve for her. So i came to the conclusion of euthanising her so she peacefully passes with no pain. Vet brought her to me in a biodegradable bag.
Buried her the same day with some flowers and ‘T’ for her.
The following week i received a really sweet note from the vet i brought her to, made me cry :hitthey even put a print of her foot🥰
Vet located in Melbourne, Australia. They don’t specialise in chicken/poultry, but able to euthanise chickens. I’ve never lost an animal so i found this so sweet.

Thankyou for your sweet replies ❤️

Kudos for an incredible vet! I have received preprinted cards from my vets when I've lost a bird or other pet. But I've never received such a lovely, handwritten note -- and with Tammie's footprint and the recognition that she was part of your family! I would have cried, too.

And, I love that you memorialized her with that little "T" grave.

Making the decision to end a life is painful, even when it's the right thing to do. Tammie was clearly beautiful and cherished. RIP, pretty girl.
