SWINE FLU PANDEMIC? Mx, NY, TX, KS...

actually it looks like it is human to human only, swine flu refers to the genetic makeup, in this case a combination of human, avian and swine... sure is spooky

I read yesterday that pigs can get it, it will be worse if Australian pigs get it as they dont have any immunity to it. Most other places have some immunity, so hopefully if they do get it , they can get over it, lets hope we dont need to find out.

No vaccine for 4-6 months for this strain.
Probably poor medical care in the so-called 'remote' areas in Mexico where this outbreak originated. Could account for the high death rate if true.

I don't think the US will get hit as hard as everyone fears.

I think we'll be fine, personally. But I'm stocked on food & water and could stay home with the kids if I needed to.

Currently, swine flu is low on my list of worries.
Good health for my family is high on the list when I count my blessings (daily). Maybe it's all those fresh eggs we eat

Another thing to remember, in terms of fatality rate in Mexico vs elsewhere, is the mindboggling awful air quality of Mexico City. Anyone living there, their lungs are already putting up with about as much as lungs should be asked to put up with -- might'nt take too much more to just be overwhelming.

Combined with poorer nutrition and health care, I think it is hard to extrapolate to the US or Europe.

the school sent home a info sheet today. Same old same old.
The guests we have had at the Farmland have been nervous and not wanting to go near the pigs.

I think this is just a load of balogna!

It is just as bed as the regular flu, we have nothing to worry about. As pat said, the air quality is extremely bad in Mexico city and that combined with this flu could be too much. Think what you want, prepare for the worst if you want. No worries here, just a little influenza with a fancy name.
