Swollen eye/face on oneside and snoring sound. HELP!*updated with pics

You can also drop a few drops of the Tylan into the eye along with putting down throat or injecting under the skin (where neck/shoulders meet) It burns like heck, but can help save the eye. Also you can take a needle and drain the fluid that has built up in the sinus. Remember, respiratory infections can be HIGHLY contagious in chickens, and can spread from your cloths, shoes, hands, and fluid from other birds, so make sure to handle sick birds last, wash cloths and bleach shoes. Always separate sick birds. A pen far away from other birds, covered with shade cloth on all four sides will help minimize spreading.

With the snowstorm/cold that is expected here my DH would not let me drive to the big city.

I am stuck with trying the duramycin-10 for now. I soaked bread (one of their favorite treats) in the solution and they all ate some so they all have some in their systems now. I will have to keep this up until they feel better (time to bake some more bread). One of my girls has both eyes swolen shut. She just stood in the corner of the run. I soaked here eyes a little until I could get the one that is not as swolen to open just a slit. It is to puffy to open any more than that and then placed her in the chicken coop right under the heating coil on her board. She nestled down on it and has stayed put. I did get her to drink a lot of the antibiotic. I think she had not gotten a drink for quite some time so she had quite a bit. I still can't get her to eat though. Hoping for some great improvement in the next few days.

All of my big girls are sick. They are kept in their own coop/run. I also put the duramycin in the chicks water even though there are no symptoms there as yet. They will get the full treatment as well just to be safe. They are kept in a different run/coop. My guess is the big girls picked this up from them while free ranging/meeting the new chicks a few days ago.

If there isn't great improvement by Monday I will be getting the Tylan then.

My wellie had fowl pox this summer on the right & it was just next to her eye. It got really big and overwhelmed the eye itself, and she has lost use of that eye. She has poor depth perception because of only being able to see out of her left eye, but she eats well and is otherwise a much healthier bird these days. Hopefully, your chooks won't lose use of an eye, but if they do, they can still live long, happy lives.

I don't think the swelling can cause her to lose the eye. Try saline washing the eye out. Don't rub maybe make a warm compress and gently soak the eye area. even warm salt water would help.

I was able to get Tylan. Wish me luck with administering it to them. I am scared I will get it down the wrong tube and kill them. I read about the dribble method on another site where you just dribble it slowly on the tongue and they should swallow it. I hate this.

Dosing them went quite well. Not near as hard as I expected. I have three birds that won't come out of the coop. I have taken them some sugar water and made 2 of them drink. They wont eat. I tried both scrambled eggs and regular food mixed with yogurt. The third bird is the one with both eyes swelled shut. She wont drink. I plan on giving her some water in about an hour with the syringe. I sure hope they pull through.

I am debating trying to drain one of the sinuses/under eye area on my BR hen. Her one eye is so puffy it looks like it hurts her a lot. Not excited about poking her with a needle.

Thank you all for your help. I am so glad I have a place to go for good sound treatment advice.
