Symptoms Of Systemic Staph? Bumblefoot

Did surgery again. Got a lot more out. I'm still not sure I got it all... what do you think? This is the worst foot

He is still eating well and preening. The swelling is not going down at all. After this surgery I'm going to continue his amoxicillin and just change his bandages. Should I keep slathering on the drawing agent (ichthamol) after the surgery or the silver sulfa? Should i do tricide soaks or Epsom soaks or no soaks? I'm just not sure what to do now after such deep surgeries. He bled a LOT on his worse foot. I didn't go so deep on the not so bad one.

I would apply a triple antibiotic ointment or Vetericyn to the wounds and wrap it for a couple of days. Then take a look at how it's healing. If they are healing o.k. give them a soak in epsom salts, diluted betadine or chlorhexidine. Dry really well, apply more ointment and re-wrap.

Since you are using Amoxicillin prescribed by the vet, it would be best to hold off on the Tricide Neo.

Looks like you are doing a wonderful job with him.
@Wyorp Rock , why decolorized on the Iodine? I’ve been stocking up my emergency kit and bought Betadine surgical scrub. No good? Different application? Thanks.
Betadine would be fine for a surgical scrub.

The Decolorized Iodine could be used as an antiseptic - it does contain alcohol which would probably burn on open wounds - the only application I have ever seen it recommended to use is for the initial loosening of the scabs on bumblefoot.

All of us keep a few things on hand for our ER kits - I just have the basics of what you might find already in the home - triple antibiotic ointment, epsom salts, etc. the only "livestock" product I really have is Blu Kote:D A lot depends on what you can get your hands on fairly quickly. My town is small, but there are several pharmacies and a Wal Mart open 24/7, so I don't stock a large amount of anything. (Forgot to add Nutri-Drench! this is a must)

Well my boyfriend had enough of Mister in the house. Plus our power was out for 4 days due to windstorms...so he had to go back outside (Mister, ha ha not my boyfriend, although I considered that!)
He's got his lady to keep him warm. I put a dog crate filled with hay for them to snuggle in since Mister can' get up into to the shelter. And covered it with a shipping blanket. It' in the 40s at night now. 50-60 during the day. Should I get him a sweater? He was shivering a bit. :(
Soaking in epsom and changing bandages tonight. Will post pix of his feet later
