Tagging Ducks

Does anyone tag their ducks?


I want to be able to tell mine apart... Any ideas??

I believe most people use colored twisty ties around the legs of their birds or leg rings that you can buy online and put on the bird once they're adults.

Just watch what ever you use that it doesn't get tight these birds grow so fast. Not that you won't but it can happen pretty fast. lol

I don’t because I have a small flock and can tell them apart

I tried it on my Runners and my gosh they managed to get them around their back toe and would end up limping so off they came.

Zip ties in different colors, put them on loosely enough to be comfortable and not constrict the leg but tight enough not to slip over the foot. I have them on my runners and they work great.

i kinda figured That.. With my rouens.. They all were different. Pekins not so much.

I actually used a different colored sharpie or food coloring on their tails. I had 8 Pekins and it was impossible to tell them apart. It faded as they swam but every now and then I would refresh them. Another idea I had was to buy different colored elastic ribbon and sew a loop and slip on their legs. It was soft and stretchy.

Is sharpie a good idea?
