tail down, lethargic , drinking.

Photos of omelets feet today.
it looked like a couple of incisions are healing ( the black spots).
One wound was still bleeding.
one other refilled with pus. Today after cleaning,& a little squeezing~ I dressed with a product we used at the raptor center. Called Collasate. The vet uses it after surgeries.

I'm so sorry:hugs

I see you have already buried her. If you happen to lose another one in a short period of time and sending the body to your state lab is not possible, if you can bring yourself to do it, a lot of times doing your own can give you answers. It's not for everyone, but if that's something you can do, post some photos and we will try to help you with what you see.
I thought about that too. Hopefully there isn’t a next time.
Thank you. You’ve all been very patient and compassionate. ❤️

It can be hard to do one at first, especially if one is a pet, but I've found it to be interesting once I started and I have been pretty good at identifying what was going on. Sadly, I've done few. I am no expert on doing necropsy, but we try to share and learn.
I think Kim (@Eggcessive ) has a good link for video.

You’re right, I feel the way...it’s interesting. ..informative, and a necessary evil sometimes...I wish I had quirky friends that would help me. Living in this little close city community , I’m already the neighborhood oddball, just for “having” chickens. Imagine if they saw me slicing one up! Lol
But, I could do it...I wouldn’t know what I’m seeing but I know you would all help me. If it happens again, I think it’s a good idea to look.
I was just too exhausted today...,once I found her like that, I had to go back and watch the video to see what happened. Nothing. Just dropped dead. Then I had to clean up the foot on omelet. I pulled all the bedding out of the pen and coop and put fresh stuff down, and washed and gave everyone fresh bedding. It was already nice and clean, fluffy, and dry,... but I feel better!
Mentally I couldn’t take much more...finding my jubilee dead was shocking. I was so prepared for omelette ....I never expected this.
~ it’s only 2:30, but I think I’m going to have a glass of wine right now.

Here is a good video of a necropsy where the organs are labeled making it easier to identify. It is good to take pictures of each organ so that opinions may be offered. Seeing what the liver, oviduct, and intestines, along with the gizzard contents, and the heart can help solve the puzzle. It helps to give some closure to what was wrong:

I’ll save this link. Thank you. It looks very clear and informative. Let’s hope none of us Need it in the near future....but I don’t have high hopes right now.

Oh gosh, I am so sorry for your loss and the troubles with Omlet. :hugs

Obviously some sort of bacterial infection, possibly MS. (Mycoplasma Synoviea) Lots of daily drainings of the foot pad and long term antibiotics.

Definitely get a necropsy done if another dies suddenly, it's the best way to figure out what you are dealing with.

Yes, if I loose another, I’ll definitely have it looked at.
Omelet is in very good spirits. We just brought her inside for clean dressings and a looksy. Of 6 Incisions, 4 look like they are healing ...2 are oozy with thin blood and scabbing. We soaked, cleaned, disinfected, squeezed ointment on, rewrapped, and more amoxicillin. apparently she liked the soak because she fell asleep.
ate her grapes, and sent back into the crate to rest a hour.
