Taking Games Jokes and Fun out of Recent Posts Listing?

I don't mind the GJ&F posts.
I actually kind of like the fact that the kids are on a family friendly site having fun playing the games and stuff.
I also like the fact that there are so many young people that came to this board because they are interested in/raising chickens.

I don't know if this can be done but can the catagories in Recent Posts be color coded? Maybe Emergencies be red, games be green, etc. That way simple color association would make it easier to avoid topics that don't interest you. As I said, I don't know if this is a possibility or not. If this has been already mentioned, please excuse me.

And if my memory serves me correctly, my priorities in life were much different 40+ years ago when I was a 'tween. Their priorities may be different than ours, but we all share a common interest - our love of poultry. For many of them, their interests will change, but for many of them, their interest in poulty will mature, and in a few years they will be assuming our roles. OMG - did I just say that out loud?
OK, I'll put my 2 cents in, only because I steer away from "Recent Topics" because I don't have the time to wade thru the social threads. So I go directly to the Genetics forum, then on to the Auctions, and then if I have free time left, I visit the other threads to see what else I can learn.
I think Option #3 would best serve all - a "Recent Topics - Poultry Forums" AND a "Recent Topics - Social Forums". as far as thats concerned recent post are recent post not recent post that only interest certain ppl if youre argument is "this is a poultry forum not a game forum" then maybe they should completely delete the fun and games section random ramblings and family story sections from the website completely this is my last post on this topic seems like the ppl are not budging and that is all the arguments i have with taking fun and games off the recent post list and after this point it would just seem like im being a troll or something i guess lol still not sure what that means

After reading through all these posts on the subject matter, the first thing that came to my mind was: A BIG HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO NIFTY and the rest of her gang for creating such a wonderful sight and staying on top of the game. Big shoes to fill for sure!! I am glad they are on your feet and not mine! LOL I think it is wonderful that people of all ages can come together on one site and feel a "part of" sharing their ideas, asking questions and getting advice, giving advice, not only with their chickens, but also other issues they are facing in general. I also think its great that there are some "fun" threads to play on occassions, when you just want to clear your mind of everything and just have a little fun.
I have no complaints on the way things are working; I log onto to the homepage first, see if there is anything that I may contribute too, then I hit the index, clicking on the forums to do the same. May I suggest that you create a forum in the index for teens and tweens where they can post all their threads so then those who take offense seeing the threads on recent posts fill the pages all the time wont have to see all their threads in the recent posts? Todays youth are alot more computer savy than alot of the older generation and I am sure that they will have no problem figuring out how to use the NEW forum, where as sometimes it harder to teach the older dog new tricks.
And I am almost certain they will enjoy their new found privacy with a special forum dedicated to the youths, with still being able to access all the other forums.

Oh wait, there could be a Hot Topics button showing any unlocked post with a post count of (set my Admin/Mod) ... that would usually show, just by activity or post count, GJ&F and then it could come out of Recent Post.
The coding for set button "Hot Topics" 'search subform Social show post with count >= 1,000'
The coding for "Recent post" would now have 'exclude category GJ&F'
Or "Index posting of Forum in Search Engine" = No in GJ&F

Maybe apply a different color value to those `subforum' headings deemed `Social' in the Recent Posts listings (red instead of blue?). Don't have a lot of time to peruse the site but, as an incipient old fogey, I'm pleased to find the `road' `paved' and have no problem zipping along into the lanes where I can travel with alacrity (usually first three pages of recent and just check the subforum headings-then the posts). Think the `social' stuff is like free fried chicken dinners before the revival, so I've no particular problem (driving more traffic to a site is always good).
