Tatanka Breeders Club: Meat Quail project with history, discussion, pictures and videos

There is a way but its probably not as easy as it used to be.

Most of the gals and guys involved seem to post on the flock university http://flock-u.org/forum/index.php forum. If i had to guess they got bombarded by people just wanting free eggs rather than those really interested into expanding the knowledge, practices and genetics. I've read some posts that seem to indicate this at least, and I think if you sign up there and spend some time reading and discussing and showing your committed that finding some eggs won't be hard. A high post count without anything of value to say would likely hurt rather than help.

Regardless, there is 10 times the information available there than any other place I've seen.

:)

Good luck with your birds!

I have some eggs in the bator now.. not the Tatanka since all of mine were killed by dogs.. Since I haven't been having any luck getting Tatanka eggs again I'm going to have to start my own line of "monster jumbo" quail...
lol.. if you keep on having success with yours I may have to buy some eggs from you down the road a bit (assuming you're interested in selling any)!

I was very surprised when I compared weights that many of mine actually measured up! I sold fifteen 22 day old quail today, 6 were over 130 grams, 5 over 140 grams including 3 that were 149 grams. I'm pretty happy with the results of this hatch. I plan to start being even more selective with the eggs I hatch & the quail I use in the breeder pens.

I'd be happy to send some eggs your way!

I've never had Tatanka quail but I read through this thread a few months ago and have kept up with the new posting. I'm pretty sure Yinepu is right in saying that she is probably the only one who still checks up on this thread. And congratulation IcyOldHen on those chicks! Just thought I'd let my presence be known.

Just wanted to give thanks, this was my in between calls at work read for a while. The standards set forth in this appear solid and sensible. I hope all out there breading for meat are using a standard similar but I've converted the grams to ounces and am using this for my own breeding plan. Thanks for the work, I'll put it to good use.

I went to try and register there but it asked a question to make sure I wasn't a spambot. It asked what member lives in a tree house? I have no idea. How does anyone know that?

That would be me..lol
Live in a 1200 sq ft treehouse I built in 2004...
If you type "treehouse" in the search box and submit it will list several postings were my member name is listed...which is also my nickname given to me by friends....
Others just call me the "Quail Man" since I've been raising Coturnix for so long ...my first quails were given to me by my parents in 1970....

If you search the word treehouse On the flock-u.org site you'll see my member name for the registration

Just a quick note:
Before I get slammed with calls for Tatanka hatching eggs....I've never raised them...use the same basic guideline in raising my Jumbo lines just never had them...wish I had gotten some eggs but I was never offered any...they were only gifted from member to member....
