My leghorn and my leghorn x roosters have a crowing contest every day as soon as they are out of the coops. They are in different coops.
If I were trying to keep him quiet I would make sure he is the only rooster around.

Cockerels will start to mount hens at between 16 to 20 weeks old. This can vary depending on breed of chicken. Some late maturing chickens may not attempt to mate until they are closer to 30 weeks.

Others say 6 weeks after they start crowing. Good sign would be the same time a pullet starts to lay her eggs. If they are the same age.

I have 2 Marans about his age, so i will go off when they lay.
His legs have actually tripled in size....they are HUGE!

I know it depends on my area. But if he is a nuisance are Pure Bred White Leghorn relatively easy to sell?

No expert on roosters here but I thought Barred Rocks where fairly early maturing roosters, or they are right on time.

mine do this as well,in one coop which also houses two lovely hens; used to have a cuckoo maran cock and a light sussex cock together,it was a competition for them from morning till night to see who coud crow the most,and whenever any support staff appeared in their vision whilst having their smoking break that woud set them off to.
now the three cochin lads have started crowing,they love having a good competition throughout the day with each other and with tito; the light sussex lad in the other coop.

crowing will always come from a cockrel as it is a programmed instinct; like forraging on the ground with their feet and jumping on some poor hens back.


OP,
pity are not a neighbour of mine,woud get away with as many cockrels as desired; am profoundly sensitive to sound but love cockrel noise,and also apreciate the way they look after their girls and act as security.

if are going to give him away,try and look for someone nokill,its awful the amount of cockrels that end up on the table through no fault of their own.
