Tell me about your Cayuga ducks!

I have a male and female Cayuga. I thought my female was too old to lay because the 3 ducklings she hatched were Rouen mixes. She hasn’t laid since at least mid June of last year so it’s pretty dark

This is Forest (aka: Fro-Fro), the house drake. We love him to pieces!

He's extremely vocal and loves cuddles.

We're looking to raise a female duckie in the future when we can accommodate another. He needs a girl :)

These animals are such wonderful pets albeit quite high maintenance, I'm dumbfounded at how many people see them as lawn ornaments.

Beautiful green sheen!

From all I've read, I took the plunge and brought some, which arrived today. Some say they lay like muscovies, some say abit better. So it may depend on their breeding. They are a good size but smaller then my pekins. They are stunning to look at. So for me they are going to be lawn ornaments. As well as providing the occasional egg. What purpose are you hoping to have them for? I have ducks for meat, ducks for eggs and gardening, ducks for pet and now the cayugas just to look pretty.

This is Mama Cayuga with Big Daddy. She likes to move so it’s hard to get a pic
You can see she has gone pretty white which is part of the reason I thought she wasn’t laying any more. But I don’t know how old she is
