Last year I hatched some chicks several times, didn't have horrible outcomes but not very good either. I have been told for still air 102* as well as 100* I'm using a tsc little giant still air incubator, measuring temp at the top of the eggs. Can someone give me experienced advice?

Still air should be 101.5 degrees measured at the top of the egg. If you want to make your life easier, it's really easy to install an old computer fan in the LG and make it into a forced air. If you don't have one lying around you can buy one on Amazon for about five bucks. With that and an old cell phone charger you can easily mount the fan inside, and then the temp would be 99.5 measured anywhere at all in the incubator. I put fans in both my LGs this way.
