Thanks Tamma!!!Well, happy birthday then!!! I know you are so excited with your little ones here.
I have 3 red star hens who are the sweetest girls ever. Good luck with your babies!
Welcome from San Antonio.... Tamma
Happy Birthday, that is a wonderful birthday surprise. How many chicks did you get?So, yesterday was my birthday. I took the day off work to spend with my husband and my 4 year old daughter. And I was expecting to get my Red and Black Star chicks Tuesday or Wednesday from McMurray, but they arrived on my birthday! Surprisingly the mail man actually delivered them to my door first thing in the morning!!!! I was a bit surprised as I thought I would have to go pick them up at the P.O. What a great birthday surprise!!!!! My daughter is like a little mother going and "checking" on them in the brooder to make sure they are doing ok! Well let our chicken adventures begin!!! Hope everyone else is having an amazing day!![]()

That there university would be Texas A&M....yeah, they do poultry projects and quail projects and....quite a few varieties of livestock projects. **giggles** Oh my that made me laugh so hard. Thank you for that. I was starting the day off grumpy, it's much better, now.![]()
Kilsharion, how is the chicken town coming along?
There were so many posts for me to catch up on now that I can get on here regularly again, I just haven't had the time to read them all.
**crosses fingers** That would be so awesome...take your phone/camera with you when you go to check the box so we can share in the moment with you.im crossing my fingers i might have and egg when i get home! Tuite (or mama-red) has found the nesting spots i put together, so im just hoping!!
@ Little WIng - she has also decided to mother-hen the 6 week old keets i have in there as well. when they are are out walking around the keets will stay in her shadow the entire time, couped them up last nite and the keets were the last one to go in, you would thought something was eating them alive by the way there were acting when they got seperated from their mama-red!
@chicklette - Did the yokie hen lay in nesting boxes with the your others? those two are pretty much loners in the group, but get along just fine with the others!
Thanks! We got 8 Red Star and 7 Black Star (15 total). So far the Black Star poop on you everytime you pick them up. Red Star hasn't pooped on any of us....yet. Also, even in a day I notice the Red Star being more "docile" while holding them. They will sit on your lap, whereas the Black Star want to run away from you any chance they get. I did notice one tiny black star - the tiniest chick out of all - 15 comes to the corner of the brooder I am standing at when I begin talking every single time I am in there. NONE of the other ones do this. And she looks almost like a runt compared to the others because she's so tiny. I know we've only had them for a day, but it's interesting to already begin seeing little quirks.Happy Birthday, that is a wonderful birthday surprise. How many chicks did you get?
