Texas

Yinepu, so glad your husband is home, but really sorry about the injury. My younger brother is in Afghanistan right now on his second tour. He got to come home for 2 weeks when my father died on March 6. He tried to make it home in time to see Dad before he died but as you know those kind of trips home mean flying standby. He got home the next day. I think he will extend his tour, so he will over there as much as a year longer.

I hope you two get to spend lots of quality time together, and not reading BYC!!!

Hi, im from Amarillo Texas. i am looking for some organic feed and none of our feed stores seem to have any, any suggestions??

I like the looks of the Jersey Giants. Wonder how they do in our Texas heat.
I had some last year. They did well surprisingly. Also I went out early in the morning watered down the shade spots they liked to lay on so the ground would be cool for them. Then mid afternoon I would spray water on those spots again just enough to lightly moisten the ground and gave everyone a shower to cool them down. They started liking their afternoon showers.

Finally found a name for my smallest chick, Ἴκαρος, the Greek spelling of Icarus. I don't know if it is a rooster or hen yet. They are 5 weeks old now so I should know soon. Ἴκαρος is always getting to close to things it shouldn't and I always swoop in as mother hen and carry him to safe place.

The ducks are getting so big. In one of the pictures it shows the green tint at the ends of Gabby's wings. I named that duck Gabby because she is always

talking away. The other duck lets out quiet whispers and only when truely upset will it let out a quack. Even then though it is not as deep or loud sounding as Gabby's.

So, yesterday was my birthday. I took the day off work to spend with my husband and my 4 year old daughter. And I was expecting to get my Red and Black Star chicks Tuesday or Wednesday from McMurray, but they arrived on my birthday! Surprisingly the mail man actually delivered them to my door first thing in the morning!!!! I was a bit surprised as I thought I would have to go pick them up at the P.O. What a great birthday surprise!!!!! My daughter is like a little mother going and "checking" on them in the brooder to make sure they are doing ok! Well let our chicken adventures begin!!! Hope everyone else is having an amazing day! :) :)

Well, happy birthday then!!! I know you are so excited with your little ones here.
I have 3 red star hens who are the sweetest girls ever. Good luck with your babies!
Welcome from San Antonio.... Tamma
