You can get bird feeder corn but it may be cheaper to go to TSC or a feed store for poultry or livestock corn - depending on how much room for storage you have. I get the big metal trashcans with lids and store all the chicken food items in them to keep them fresh and rodent free.

Look to see how big the corn is. I've seen some corn that is the smaller kernels and other brands of whole corn are huge, too huge for a small chick to eat. Since I didn't want to buy multiple sizes of corn, I get the cracked corn that all sizes of chickens could swallow easily.

Feeding corn can also help with adding yellow color to birds that need to have yellow skin/feet etc.

I feed the "chops" from the feed store. I feed it as a treat and I start feeding it to them at about 7-8 weeks old. They don't get it every day but they think they should.

If this question is for me then no, mine did not like the maize in the scratch. They would only eat the corn and leave the rest so I just buy the chopped corn now.
