This is another yokie egg, 3 days in a row! Not sure if you can tell but on the pointy end of this egg there is a rough, off colord patch about the size of a dime. Is this a deficiencey in something? Or could it be that she is just laying like a machine and is near the end of her run? Everything ive read said that yokohamas will lay about 3 a week, but she is on 3 days in a row, passed up the rock mix i have today too!

Is this something to cause concern?

Need to wait a few before i start grabbing more boys. Got 2 from ken not long ago, and will have a polish roo joining the bunch once he gets a tad bigger....so thats 3 roos to my 12 hens as long as the 6 in the brooder really turn out to be pullets as they said!

Not to mention my batch of silkes comin but sarge claimed a pair so that helps things, lol!

Calcium Coated Eggs
These type of eggs have an extra layer
of calcium all over the egg or on just
one end of the egg.
Causes:
• Defective shell gland
• Disturbances during calcification
• Poor nutrition, e.g. excess calcium

I free choice their oyster shell, but also have a bit in their mix that i use...but i dont think they are getting too much. Her 2 prior to that one havent shown that calcium so i also doubt it was a defective gland unless it come out hit or miss...

The Girls have decided Mike's shop is the place to be:

And, what they were supervising was the beginning of The Broken Yolk:

Once it's finished, we'll build the runs. The next 12' will be my garden, then coops start up again.
