So i thought i had a dead chick this morning, the other 3 in the brooder were literally standing on it under the light. Thought for sure it got smothered, didnt even move when i blew on them to try and get a reaction. By the time i got to cleaning out the brooder(which i always do when i find a dead subling) all 4 were running around like happy chicks! That was for sure a pleasant surprise!

shoot I just cut up a fresh bright red pepper off the bush and feed that to them!!!

Lemme know if it works! We have stopped buying eggs and are waiting eagerly. We barely get enough eggs for 1 saturday breakfast a week and i have customers on wait for once i can start gathering enough. And my one EE that is laying, her rggs are only slightly bigger than the yokies! Gonna have to break down and get me some production layers to add to the mix i suppose

Can u see why this one earned the name cleo?

How does feather sexing work? If the baby primaries are all the same length its probably a roo or a pullet? My 2 RJF chicks are perfect to test the theory. Easy to tell apart an they have the 2 types of feathering. Just curious

Not all breeds can be feather sexed.... games can be sexed by he eyeliner sometimes... presence is female, lack or broken is male...
layers yes, feather sexing can be useful.. long and short together = female where all short = male....
pls correct me if I am wrong?
