Anyone in the Texas thread here know anything about sexing FBCM's? I have 8 -  2 1/2 week old chicks and was wondering if it was possible to sex them yet?

2.5 weeks is still kinda young, by 4-6 weeks you should start getting hints, but post some pics of their faces. Its always fun to play the guess the gender game!

Most vets don't get chicken medicine in the vet school education. There just aren't enough people willing to pay for chicken vets to warrant much education in that department. And since birds die for no reason at the drop of a hat just from stress, many vets don't even take much in the way of avian electives in vet school. I got lucky with my hubby taking a varied educational track in vet school and cont ed since then, to include avian/exotics as well as large and small animal to take care of just about anything we come across, and he gets clients bringing in animals that the owners say no other vet was willing to see. He's gassed down several of our chickens for xrays and also surgery with good results.

Can u tell if they will be tough before you eat them?

If there is a way, I sure haven't figured it out.

*sigh* I think all my hens are cross dressers. I'm convinced they all roosters, but they won't crow because they want to stay here. So they parading around pretending to be point of laying Pullets. And keeping me on my waiting toes.

Yes, I think we spoke about them b4 maybe? I'm still a couple of months away from having chicks or eggs to sale but my hens are showing great coloring and crests and my roo is fabu!

Does anyone raise legbars? I read they lay blue eggs? Is it all legbars or just cream crested?

Little wing, do you still have any pullets currently from the batch that i got from you originally? I still only hve 1 EE laying and was curious if yours were laying yet if u hung on to any...turns out the free roo i got from you is indeed a roo! Lookin pretty sharp too but still no crow either

I kept one that was a little younger than the ones you took. She isn't laying either.
I would like to see a pic of that roo when you get a chance.
