Thanks Y'all.
Sorry about posting the name of the site. I didn't know it was against the rules. I just keep thinking if I read enough sites, I will learn all I need to know

Salado here

My two chickens are still locked in my coop...so bored, rolled them around in a trash bag yesterday to dust them for lice and now they are mad at me. Guess I could fix the hole in the fence for when they arn't on lockdown. So I have to keep them locked up for how long so they know where home is? Some posts say 3 days, some say a week. I'm sure they are as bored as I am, poor things.

Salado,
I always feel so guilty when my chickens have to be locked up. I try to think of ways to keep them from getting bored.

I do things like hide grapes, throw some greens or weeds around the coop, throw in bugs, mealworms, earthworms, crickets lately... but I swear my birds favorite thing is when I throw in a couple shovel-fulls from the compost bin... they go nuts, they dig around for hours. They just love to play in the partially-done compost. Oh, mine also LOVE to stare at themselves in a mirror, if you have an old one around the house, you might just put it in there and see what they do. And of course, especially at first, I would just sit in there and sing and talk to them as much as possible so they get used to me.

Anyway, maybe other people have some better ideas to keep them from getting bored and keep them stimulated while in lockdown.

I don't know if the chickens are actually any happier when they have things to do but I know I feel better when I am doing something!

Good Luck
