Texas

i ended up letting them out for an hour, had to chase away the neighbors Roo with a flyswatter, that was a LOAD of fun. The little one let me pick her up and put her back in but the older one had to get the dog to round her up. Love that herdin' instinct.

Then I threw em some shriveled tomatoes, all is good.

They are doing even better today when I let them out, I just walked up to the little one and picked her up and the red one hopped back into the coop on her own. They still arnt eating treats out of my hand but they know the treats come from me. Henny Penny (red one) actually came up to me and begged for more scratch

We are new to raising chickens, we have 5--4 week old chicks (pullets) as follows: 2 Partridge Cochins, 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks, and 1 Sultan (roo or hen ?) and in a week we are picking up our 3 Bantam-Blue Silkie, Buff Silkie and Sultan chicks

from Ideal Poultry. That will be 8 chicks ranging from 5 wks to 1 day of age, and we love playing with the 5 we have at the moment. They are pictured in my avatar. I check in on a daily basis and just found the Texas site. I hope to see more Texans as time goes by.

Hi Kat,
Welcome, where is Burleson? Do you live in the country or city?

I'm in San Antonio... I only have 3 little chickens -- Snookie, Ashes, and LittleGaGaRoo.... They are silkie mixes, I got them in May and June ... I had 10 but they all kept turning out to be Roosters ... I wish I still had them but 3 is good for my tiny little yard!
