Texas

My daughter is in med school at UTMB Galveston, so I come down a few times a year.  We are here to celebrate mine and her birthday.  She is my first born and she was born on my birthday.  It was one of the happiest and most fearful days of my life.  I had to make the toughest choice of my life, to save my wife's life or fight for my babies life and risk losing them both.  It is quite an amazing story, but I obviously decided to fight for her life.  It took every ounce of strength in my body to get her out, but she was so worth it.  She is very special to me .  She is doing rotations in the OBGYN right now.  This is what she posted on facebook on our birthday.

"Dad and Mom, after spending time with moms in labor on my OBGYN rotation, I've been sharing with a lot of people how awesome you two as parents were when I was being born! Your love and faith made you take the risk of having me out there in the Amazon...and on your birthday, Dad! Love you and so grateful for your strength and trust in Christ! Happy birthday to us, Dad!

I thought about bringing you one of my game roosters on this trip, but our plans got messed up and we got off way too late to have the extra time.  Maybe next time.

Wow what an amazing story!!!  Happy belated birthday to the both of you!

I think between your pictures and your life story it would make an exciting book!  Have you considered it?

Lisa :)

I'm with you Lisa sounds like a book that needs to be written :)

It's such a beautiful crisp morning, I've been having fun taking pictures in our backyard. These two beautiful redheads are our new girls, Reba (L) & Ruby (R). They were given to us a few days ago by friends who had more chickens than allowable in the College Station city limits. These two stay together, but they are so laid back they've already started laying eggs.
Pretty hens

It rained here last night 1/2" almost cold this morning :) Sold our BLRW roo this morning too :yesss: would like to have kept him but the BLW was beating him up all the time, ran out of pens to separate him :(

Sounds like us - we are gonna have to make some more single-male housing in order to keep all the males that we need to keep for our various breeding projects.

It is a wonderful day here in Dallas!!!! I am sitting on my back porch and just having a great day!!! Letting foster dog out to play so my chick chicks are in their coop. They aren't complaining too much. :)

Howdy, fellow Texans!

I am currently living in downtown Houston. My family is in the process of moving into a more rural area outside the city, but we're still in the house hunting phase at the time being. One of my first projects upon moving into the new home is going to be building an outdoor aviary for Ringneck Doves. That's my own personal project, but my family has expressed interest in raising backyard chickens as well. Right now we have three cats and a Belgian Mal mix rescue.

I wish we were experiencing this lovely fall weather y'all are talking about! The weather here has been so sporadic. We'll have a nice breezy day, and then it's right back to 95 degrees and high humidity.
