Well, I'm sick. Mom spread her germs and now my throat is terribly sore. However, all this sick time has given me a chance to finish an egg!

I'm so sorry. Have you tried an epsom salt bath? Don't know if it will help, but I don't think it could hurt. I don't know much about sick chickens though.

Hope she pulls through for you.
When I read your suggestion I just had to laugh!! If my friend's boyfriend has no answers I will try that! I'm going out of town from Wed-Sat and I really wish I could leave her knowing she is ok.

Chicken stuff I came across. I can get into trouble on etsy. There was a ton of chicken themed stuff on there, including the spice rack I just bought. Glad to see I got a better deal. :)

Tree ornament - this is just too cute :)

Some on here could use this sign. I hope I don't turn into this, but probably will. ;)

This is a no brainer for most people, I am not that big of a fan of chocolate though, unless it is combined with peanut butter.

Talk about not allowing them to be chickens. Poor things! I understand this is a fund raiser for a school in a cold climate (the UK), but still....

I could use one of those outfits right about now. I have a poor naked frazzle that needs something to keep her warm and protect her from the roosters. She's currently in my kitchen. Many of her feathers came off from just handling, trying to get a pattern for a saddle to fit. By the way, there is an egg underneath her. She's given me three eggs since coming inside.

I think my chickens are handling the cold better than I am. They are on their own. Hopefully the automatic chicken door works tonight because I caught a cold. No reason to think it won't close. I just always check on them.

I can't believe there is a chicken that would sit still for wearing clothes. Mine wouldn't.
I know mine wouldn't either. In fact, I'm fairly sure they would stage a coup if I even tried.

Awww, poor thing. Are her feathers just brittle because of the frizzling or did the roosters strip her like that? I have one australorpe that was bald like that cause the stupid roosters won't leave her alone. Roosters that will be chicken and dumplings as soon as I'm able to process them. I HATE them. They are not good with my hens at all.

She is in a severe molt now and has grown pin feathers all back in on her bald patches.

I'm in San Antonio & I too cannot stand this cold! I felt so sorry for my 4 month old hens that I put a heating pad & a flood light in their coop to keep them warm. I was so relieved to see 1 hen on the roost under the light & the other 2 snuggled together on the heating pad! The 4th chicken got sick

, she was wheezing & sneezing so bad I was afraid I was going to lose her. I brought her inside & for 2 days she wasn't getting any better. I did a search of the forums and discovered the miracle drug Tylan 50. I ran out and bought some, gave her an injection and the next day she was so much better.

She got her second injection this evening and is well on the road to recovery. So, if any of yours should get sick from the cold, just start them on Tylan 50, you & the chickens will feel so much better! Good Luck
