You sure did have a great day today. My hubby wants to get a peacock told him not till we get the place fenced in to many dogs around here and it would have to be locked up all the time and that is not fair.
Are they as easy to take care of as chickens or do they have a different type of care for them.
would love to see a pic of a peacock egg have not see one before. do you have a way to post one.

I will be raising them.
I have another set to hatch from another breeder also so I will have 2 strains. The chicks are beautiful. I will take a pic of the peacock egg and post it.
On another note I am jealous.
How come OK has all these neat poultry auctions all the time and we dont????
Ok here are 2 pics in the one it is beside my 2 1/2 oz Turken egg, in the other my hand. But I really dont have very big hands either. But they are much bigger than my heritage breed turkey eggs.
And as far as taking care of them, mine free ranged where they used to live. So they dont like me very much, they are pennned and are a little skittish. But he is finally parading his tail feathers with me beside him so he is getting used to me. As far as food I just feed them game bird crumbles and a couple handfuls of a special mix our feed store makes. (not for me) And a treat when everybody else gets one.
It took me 5 YEARS to get my DH to buy me a pair of white Peas. He thought they would scare me screeching (heart patient) I finally wore him down, and I think they sound like monkey's. I love the sound.

That is a decent size egg. I might let him go ahead and get his peacock but he will need to fence the yard in first so we do not get any dogs up in the area they will be in. I Hate to have to let them stay in a coop all the time.
This spring I would like to redo my coops just do not like the way they are looking. And want to have a few different pens for different breeds, an area where I can put my rooster and hens in for when I want to breed a certain types for a few of my husband friends from the Trade days that sell birds, for them to have chicks to sell or the eggs.
And a nice brooder house to have the babies in as well. Big dreams I know but I think I can do it. LOL
