I keep about 100 chickens and hatch around 1000 a year. Hobby gone wild!!!! You might check out my Three legged Chick thread. Haven't had time to take a new pic but she is doing great!

I figured as much... not too many places in Texas that are within 20 minutes of Arkansas, and they're all in Bowie County! We're also about to start New Hampshires once my flock comes in from Ideal... we have a hodge-podge of chickens right now bought at TSC and Atwoods...

Hi Ya'all - I am in Keller (just east of Fort Woth) and just got my first peepers 2 weeks ago. Building a coop now. Here is the set up.

4x6 hen house - north and south walls open up for ventilation on top. Bottom of one wall opens up for clean out. back wall has a 12x12 window. soffit vents all the way around. All of this is covererd in 1/4 in hardware cloth for security. 4 nest boxes (external connection)
12x18x6 covered dog kennel run.

I hope I dont have issues with it over heating. It will be in between several oak trees for shade.

Comments welcome.

We should all wear a feather in our hair at the Fancy Feather Chicken Show on April 2nd - to identify eachother as BYC members....or red shirts - or paint BYC on our cheeks

I had to get a mist-er to cool the run, even though I had it under a huge oak tree for shade. The run is going to be expanded sometime between now and June and I'm going to cover it with something that will help keep out the sun, too.

I am in Round Rock just north of Austin. I hope to move to acreage in Lampasas county in the next year.
Is the list of Texas members available? Thanks, Ed
