Texas

I am near Killeen Texas and new to the whole chicken stuff. Starting out with some polish, cornish rock and americaunas. Strated working on converting a shed into a coop this week. The kids colored the whole inside yellow (they said yellow will make the chickens happy, lol)

You know it's dry when...

- you flick a cigarette butt into a burn pile, after taking extra precautions to make sure it was soaked with water.

- your horses and pigs all join the ducks in the sprinkler when you water your plants.

- Texas is having wild fires (Im praying for those of you in them. )

- You're emptying dirty waterers into a big bucket for your house plants instead of filling them with the tap. (Guilty%

- Ponds and creeks that are normall full of water are cracking at the beds.

- Grass is brown.

- You see clouds and do a rain dance to entice the rain gods...

- The ducks swim in the sprinklers, instead of a pond...

-- Anyone else?

You got that RIGHT Miss Red!!!!
We had a storm (thunder/lightening/60 mph winds) April 11th, didn't give us much rain but knocked out my electricity for 27 hours, but some folks were without for 4 days, so I won't complain. Then last night had a marble sized hail storm that took out the electricity for a little over an hour. I guess when the hail melted it gave us a little bit of moisture for the ground.

I'm a born Texan, so I know how the weather patterns go.....but dadgumit, I do believe this is the driest spring I can remember!!! I have always thought of Feb as 'mushy month'.....that's when my wellie boots get the most use.........but not this year.

Sending prays for those that are dealing with the wildfires......maybe the weather got mixed up and thinks we are CA?!?!?

Okay I could not agree more, we had a fire 1/2 mile from my house. Let me tell you I had to pry the seat out of my hinny when my Mom callled me. The K-Bar lost some grazing land but no cattle. I was in Fort Stockton last week seeing patients and the smoke was really bad. Lots of land has burned in this area. So please everyone watch out for your fellow men.
