Okay...no progress on building the coop, because my chicks out-grew their rigged up brooder accomodations. Used 2 small dog crates but they were obviously too small. Now they have a 6.5ft x 4ft x 2ft Hotel. I have some Happy Happy Happy girls now! looks good! We redid our brooder today too

Well, one of my buff Orpington "hens" stared crowing at me this morning. He's a year old and just now showing gender characteristics.

Everyone was having a blast out in the yard today. It was thankfully dry enough I could let the dogs out(I have no grass), and thank goodness it is warmer! I got to open the window and air out my room.

I let the chickens out as well with the dogs. Thankfully when I am outside I can keep my dogs from chasing the birds around. Everyone was out scratching for worms and picking grass from the neighbors overgrown yard. As soon as I went to put them up, of course trouble latched onto Big Mamma's poor earlobe and tore it open again. I really wish I could do something about it.

Also I have a question, what is it called when a chicken has a really loose neck, like these type of geese? it isn't completely like this, but similar. Is it called a dewlap on hens as well?

Falling really hurts when you aren't a kid anymore.  That is why I am a bit worried to go back to riding horses.  As a kid, I bounced really well.  Not so anymore.  Hope you are feeling better today.

You win some you lose some! I knew they couldn't all be pullets. Just turns out my roo was an EE instead of my BR.

Now...if my BO, Eloise, turns out to be a roo, ill cry lol.

She and my BR are the friendliest things. But her comb is much pinker than my other BO's is...I read that BOs are veerryyy hard to sex though, before maturity. So I'll probably have to wait until I get a crow or an egg! Lol
I was talking to my husband about how I was bummed that my numbers kept dwindling and he replied with the fatal "We'll maybe we can get more"
The wheels are already turning..
