a mom of 3 i have rir the heritage kind ...the roosters are not mean or aggressive toward humans even kids.. the ones from the hatchery are very mean and aggressive will attack most kids and some will attack u too. the reason is simple we select heritage ones for mild temperment the hatchery on the other hand uses flock mating for the most fertile eggs they can get with several roosters in with several hens. the most aggresive rooster get the most hens mutiply x 50 generations and millions of chicks a trait aggresive comes out. if you want a red rooster get a heritage one. :)

Weather update. There is some nasty stuff going on around here. Tornados are not too far away and people are without power. :( There is some big hail too.

I'm ok, where I am. So far.

There is a swarm of bumble bees around my coop area. I mean there is a lot of them and a few red wasps. How do I get ride of them??? I am allergic to stings and I am not afraid of using what I need to kill them but I have no idea what I can use that wont harm my chickens when I get to put them out there. So I need something that will kill the bee but want hang around when I put the chickens out there in a few days. If I get hit by a couple of them, I will end up in the hospital. Any ideas??

Wow wish I had that problem, we try to attract them, but then again they won't put anyone in the family in the hospital. If you have a hive you may have to have it professionally removed. If not, then they are just attracted to something you have around the coop, what do they land on the most, if you can get someone to remove that for you (so you won't get stung) then they should go away. I hope you don't get stung

That is awesome. I live in a Podunk small town, and as far as I know, my son and I are the only fans. I am an Anglophile, and I love most British shows.
I love British TV shows. I grew up watching them. The PBS channel here in DFW has a wonderful line up of them too. :)

Weather update. Hunt county is getting nailed. It is the next county east of mine. Tornados have touched down, houses are damaged, power is out.... I have heavy rain and hail here. Lots of thunder and lightning. My new roof is getting hailed on!! Thankfully the hail is smaller than marble size. I don't think I will have any damage. Really glad I put my car in the garage. :)

They are swarming around the roof of my barn, at the end where we were putting the tin up. The more we worked on the barn, nailing, cutting..... the more they came around. I think they are like up in the roof vent?!? I am not sure, but they have got to go. LOL
