When a hen starts laying, the eggs tend to be smaller until they mature, and they get larger (excluding Banatams of course).More rain coming. Hope everyone stays dry.
I am thinking about switching out my cream legbars for buff orpingtons. My first Buffs were such wonderful egg layers. Not use to these X small eggs.

We live in Red Rock. It is soo sad to get flooded and then TWICES, gosh my heart goes out to them all. I went to school in San Marcos. It was Southwest Texas State when I went way long ago, lol. We have Barred Rocks, EE's and new Lavender Orpington chicks. Two hatched 3 weeks ago and I have some eggs in the bator now on day 21. One has hatched and I hear one peeping. It didn't flood where we live, but I know a lot of people that got flooded again! Just terrible... We have Silver Laced Wyandottes, RIR, Buff Orpingtons, Black Austs, Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks. We just recently hatched our first babies on the farm, The father is an Australorp and all his babies are black like him! So cute... Do you like near SM? What kind of chickens do you have?
WOW, man do you have eggs, lol. How many chickens? We just took some bull calves to the sale.
That's great to hear about Orps. I hope my baby orp chicks are girls. They have been laying for over 2 months and they are not nearly as prolific egg layers as my buffs were. My orpingtons only stopped laying when they went broody. They laid all winter long.
