Texas

We are in a tiny town. Our 2 feed stores and TSC does carry chicks, but never olive eggers.

Lol SETX would be upper gulf coast area. I've lived in TX all my life, I love TX. But yea, its huge. We are in Tyler county, but there isn't much in this county lol. Just thought maybe some fellow BYC peeps would have some. We have like 40 some odd chickens and I just need some olive and some chocolate eggs for my basket. But need is relative lol.
I ordered my Welsummers from Ideal and they lay a pretty dark egg.

Facebook Marketplace turned out to be a good one. Lots of responses. I'm leery of hooking up with a restaurant. Sometimes the egg flow is pretty steady, then sometimes all the hens decide to quit laying for a few months, or some cursed predator comes along and wipes out a good portion of the flock and I'll have no eggs.
In Texas one much have their flock PT in order to legally sell eggs.

I bet Houston has some for you!

Im sure, its just a matter of finding them. We lived down in Houston most of my life. 2 years ago we moved out to the country, got a few chickens, and now we are overrun with various animals. Chickens were our gateway animal lol. I don't miss Houston. I can't wait to get back home when we go down there for things. We are about 2-2.5 hours northeast now.

FYI.
Anyone who was interested in taking the train class for the PT testing the dates for this years training classes have just been announced. There will ONLY be 8 classes this year.

Isn't that just for hatching eggs, not eating eggs?

Here in MD they require NPIP to sell birds and hatching eggs, but a seperate permit (no NPIP ) to sell eating eggs, and the eggs are required to be graded, washed, and refrigerated. And you have to register your flock with the state regardless of if you sell anything or not. :hmm

Yes....I believe you can sell eggs to individuals (not at a farmers market type situation) if you label them ungraded and keep them at a certain temp (basically refrigerated) without a license. Don't quote me on this though.
Selling eggs for food is regulated through the Texas Department of Health Department.
