Texas

I'm relatively new here (lurked on and off for several years only started posting today) but I figured i would say hey. I'm in "the heart" of Texas in a little town just outside of Waco.

I don't have my first flock yet, if anyone knows where in our wonderful state i could find a single male American gamefowl chick I would really appreciate your help. It's the roo i want to watch over my hens and I would like to raise them together the way my family did when I was a kid.

I have a male and female white silkie's that I am selling for$35 for the pair. They are a year old and are inseparable. They must go together. If anyone is interested please PM me and I would be happy to answer any questions. I have raised them since chicks I got them from Ideal poultry.
This is the male with 3 of the juveniles. He's a good daddy.
I am in Conroe Texas

You might try craigslist or idealpoultry.com(outside E of Austin). Best of luck to you.

Howdy, neighbor!:frow I'm in West, just outside of Waco. I also actually have several extra male Barred Rocks that were hatched on the 14th, if you would like one.

Dang! Just got bit by a snake. See those two red marks at the base of my thumb?

Thought since I had on gardening gloves, I could pick him up and throw him out of the way:

Really aggressive snake -- so since it broke the skin, and now my adrenaline was up, I thought I should look inside its mouth. No rattles, obviously, no fangs.... I couldn't even see teeth. How it got through the glove and broke the skin?? it's beyond my comprehension.

Probably would have been a good snake to just let it go and hope it would eat the baby mice that are probably hatching (constantly) and when the snake gets big it could eat the big mice. ETA - not hatching -- being born...duh. I guess you can tell what's on my mind.
Don't be dumb like me.... Isn't it chickens bring mice and mice bring snakes -- so you guys -- it's warm enough for snakes now. :O(

Watch that closely or go see a doc. Fangs are kind of fragile and they sheath themselves like cats claws. You can make them come out by pressing in the roof of the snakes mouth. It looks like a nice big rat snake which is harmless to people (dont quote me here, i know quite a bit about snakes but im no expert) but those marks on your hand look like fang marks and I think (could be wrong) only venomous snakes have fangs

I was just thinking about you today and saw you posted! Oh no!! It looks like a rat snake. We had a few of those last year, none yet this year but figured they'd be out soon. Still...scary. Keep an eye on it!!
