So we talked and she wonder why the evac-order. My *WAG* was to minimize the covid-19-mare chances for folks if it turns ugly?? :idunno
I see they are now forcasting the winds "at landfall" to be at >110 mph but, given the CCW flows the winds for the majority of the island would be from outta the North to NE & not the full strength stuff.

Thoughts? She's thinking about having one of our 20-something boys to go down with her to be down there to "ride out the storm" and do some legit inside only work......
I personally wouldn't send anyone down there unless they can get it all done today and head back to the metroplex. Cat 3 is kinda where I draw the line at sheltering in place. Your structure may be different. Insurance will take care of it.

It's a 100y/o house. We went down and boarded it up for Harvey then road out Harvey. It's a stone's throw from the pleasure peir and The Galvez. Cat 3 peak eh??? Hmmmmm....
I use to live in the oldest apartment buliding in Galveston, (while a student at A&M) it was built in 1903, after the Great Hurricane that wiped out most of Galveston. It's right across Broadway from Bishops Palace.

Cool then you know the the 25th Street area rather well eh?

If you do FB this is a pretty sharp guy to follow. But Cat3 is the current forecast.

IMO, riding out the storm is never a good thing. Regardless it's going to pour for days. We'll see what it looks like tomorrow. I'm in Houston near 45 (just south of downtown) and I'm worried about wind and surge. Proximity to the bayou turns my neighborhood into a lake. Good luck whatever you decide! Everyone be safe!
