Texas

I got half the yard mowed yesterday. Will finish today. The well is acting funky, gonna call repair today, $$, well still has original pump, installed in 1982. Cleaned pump house out. 5 or 6 fist sized red wasp nest-gone now. Big a$$ed healthy sized wasps, gone now.
It pumps when you use water-runs 3 to 5 seconds, cuts off. 5 seconds then runs sgain 3 to 5 seconds. We noticed it Satirday, been stingy with water since. Looking to repair coop and start over-gun loaded, free leghorns coming.
Partner recovering, he better not fall again, fall almost killed him.

Having had so much "fun" with our water well - I'm painfully aware of what others might also experience with their water Wells....
So you say it's been in service since 1982?
Same pump & motor?
How deep is it?
What depth is pump set at?
What's the GPM flow rate with no resistance?

Never run out of water and we have used a lot. No type filter/softener etc... what comes out of ground comes out of faucet.

I wouldn't mind adding a ground water pump to the property but suspect it would probably become brackish living 20 miles off the bay and 24 feet over sea level. But what do I know maybe our aquifers are better than that?

First egg song today from one of the Blue Sumatra(early June starts) hens guess they are going into production and should probably stay that way all winter this year.

Outside of the fact I can get in an extra hour of sleep this doesn't look like fall/winter in many places to me. I should start tomatoes soon. I bought 400 gallon Root Pouches so I have my raised beds ready to go once I fill them:

The method I was taught by our well guy & confirmed by many others over the years...
1) Setup yourself 2-4 5gal buckets.
2) turn the 90° fitting at top of wellhead around for a piece of pipe to be screwed into it for a temporary spigot.
3) once the water is flowing have someone do the stopwatch for 30, 60, or 90 seconds.
4) the simple math for calculating gallons per minute is now right on that stopwatch.

Our well in perspective:
1 1/4" pipe
~10 gal/minute
Well depth 520'
Pump depth ~420' currently

Just passing on some info: a gal over in Henderson (East TX) has posted in the "Animals in Need of Re-homing" forum. She needs to re-home some chooks to forever homes. I'm very tempted....
Hmmmmmm, we have a place on cedar creek lake, in that county.... Maybe I could look for the thread later tonight, purely in a speculation mode of thought.
