Knock on wood
So far.....we have not lost power.
It is now raining, hard rain.
It was 30⁰, now its 28.
The snow was walkable, yesterday sun came out, top of snow melted and froze. Now, its slick.
Slicker than snot.
Weather WAS predicting 1/10th in ice, now saying 1/2+ of ice. Sighs....
This too shall pass.

Was just out collecting the waterers to bring in and thaw. 5 bright aqua green flashes off to the SE, there's a substation over that way....guess they had several transformers exploding! Power is now off, period, for along time! :barnie
Do you have a fireplace?
We just got power back after a long-ass 31 hours. I am seeing now on the news it probably won't last long. My brother was out for 1.5 days...got it back for just a few hours and he's out again.
I am so annoyed.
Is it Friday yet?

This is just ridiculous.

Wasn't my substation! I have had power on and off since Monday morning at 3:40am was the first. The rolling black outs have lasted anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour but at least we have rolling blackouts.
I have propane Dearborn heaters also but it's getting harder to find any dealers open or that have any propane. Had to drive to New Braunfels to get propane, then wait in line for 45 minutes to get some.
Thankfully, this morning the waterers weren't frozen, despite the 28° temp. They are under the covered end on the enclosures and it stays warmer under the sheltered area than the run areas, eventhough they are open to the same conditions....just a wind block and shelter from rain, snow, sleet etc.

Our water well froze up Sunday night. Monday's snow turned out to be a good thing as we spent most of the day melting snow on the propane stove so we could water the horses and chickens. Then the power went out. So, we were cold, but could still spend all day Tuesday melting snow for the animals. Last night, the power came back, and instantly, the pipes burst right at the well. I was getting worried, as it's warmed up enough that the snow is melting into the ground and I couldn't get enough to melt. Then today, it's raining/sleeting heavily. I've moved every bucket I can find to under the eaves. Fresh water! :) Now I'm just hoping the power doesn't go out again due to the ice on the lines!!

I would not keep birds if I had to deal with this frozen waterer business on the regular. I can not stand it.

I call $%#@&!&& 🤣🤣🤣🤣we still don't have power, or running water cuz our towns pump for the water tower is electric. These folks need to get it together, smdh
Like Greg Abbott or anyone else in the Capitol Bldg can do anything about this.

This is an absolutely unprecedented event, like a lot of other recent events. I was telling my sister-in-law just yesterday that the linemen down here know all about working in the rain but they don’t know a damn thing about working in subfreezing temps and snow so they’re just going to have to do the best they can and I can guarantee you that they’re doing that. The utility companies are the ones that’ll get power and water up and running again and they’ll get those services up as soon as they possibly can because their families are doing without as well. I don’t bother listening to these talking heads telling us all to “keep hope alive” while nestled snug in their taxpayer-funded bunkers and no one else should either. When God is good and ready, he’ll turn the thermostat back up. Until then we’ll just have to take Jimmy Carter’s advice and wear a sweater.

My little brother is at Hwy 6, just south of you. My days are running together already...he is out if power again. He got it back yesterday morning around 10 and it stayed on until last night.

I am so hoping I don't lose power again although I know I will.
