Hi, Carla, and everyone
I am also near San Marcos in rural area...Between Kyle and Wimberley.
Am starting up flock again after losing my banty cochins to opossums and raccoons a while ago.
Would like to get Cochins and Buff Orington's.
Where's a good place to get quality scratch?
Martha, welcome to BYC. It is nice to know someone else in our area.
Sorry to hear you lost your chickens to the varmints. There is no such thing as overbuilding your coop for predator protection. If you think something might be able to get in a certain place, they probably can. Plug it up !
BTW...
You are the 500th Texas member to join BYC since I have been keeping a spreadsheet on us.
Hello from Dallas. New to this site. We live in East Dallas two miles from downtown. I've built my coop this Spring bought 10 hens and we are up to seven eggs per day. WOW! We are having a blast with our new tenants. I've wanted to do this for years and finally got it done and am very thankful I did. Glad to share tales with anyone.
Welcome speckfish,
You will have a great time here and learn lots of good stuff.
What are the livestock regulations in Dallas ? I lived there most of my life, but don't remember any chickens in my neighborhood - EXCEPT a loose rooster that a city council woman was determined to get rid of. He escaped captivity for a long time.
I love Mai's Vietnamese restaurant on Bryan.... is it still there ?
Hi Carla,
Thanks for the warm welcome. You can have hens in Dallas County but no roosters.
As a matter of fact there are quite a few folks in this area with chickens. I'll keep in
touch and maybe try to attend one of the events.
