Texas

I'm in Princeton, well, Branch, but it's an unincorporated area, and Princeton's the mailing address!  We are about 12 miles east-southeast of McKinney.  I have 1 rooster and 9 pullets that are 4 months old, and 14 pullets that are 2 months old, along with 6 miniature horses (soon to be 8, as I'm taking two senior citizen mares for an old friend), one grade pony, 10 cats (former barn cats who moved indoors when a pack of 6 or 7 coyotes came through, then refused to move back out!), and one spoiled rotten powder puff Chinese Crested dog!  I'd like to add a couple of dairy goats to the mix--maybe next spring ...
Retired, but working my a#$ off!

You sound busy. Welcome from the other side of the lake.

GamGam - I noticed you had mixed Old English Game. I need an OEG standard rooster. I was hoping to find fertile eggs so I can raise my own instead of introducing a new boy. Are all of your OEG mixed?

Yes, Helen. They are all part sultan/OEG. They are about 4 half months old. If you do decide to get a rooster, please let me know. I need to re-home 2 out of the 3 that I have. One is really taller than the other two. I can post some updated pics, if needed. They are mating with my hens already. But none of my hens have started laying yet. I just know that the fighting is going to start soon because I only have 11 hens.

PS. If anyone else needs a rooster let me know. I would like them to have their own girls. I will let you pick the ones you want and I will keep the last one.

GamGam, I am going to try to find OEG. Mine are that, possibly mixed with modern game. I have just read about them online since they moved in. My chickens spilled over from a neighbor and I let them stay. They raised fighting roosters. The ones I have kept though, have been very nice to the hens and not at all aggressive toward us. My last one disappeared along with one setting hen and all her eggs. I assume he was brave to the end. They are very self-sufficient, which is perfect, because we don't have time to tend to them very much. They need to be tough, and not mixed with a more domesticated breed. thanks, though!

I understand. Theses came from my neighbors chicken and rooster. His chickens stay in my backyard during the day free ranging near the woods. I tried to get neighbor to take them or at least half but ended with all of the chicks. One rooster will come to me and let me hold and pet him, the other two are a little flighty. They will all eat out of my hands. They are very protective of the girls. They are starting to fight so I took two out of the run. I let them free range and lock them in a cage that is divided at night. I don't want them to be dinner for a possum. I am thinking about posting them online but with them being part OEG, I am scared that I will give them to a fighting set up. I live less than an hr from Louisiana and I think it is legal to fight them there. My DH says to do it anyway because they are only chickens but I would rather them be supper than go to that life.

i just wanted to say hello. My girls are on the down-low......illegal coop and all. but it doesn't stop me from being the crazy chicken lady, lol!
