Texas

This is a load of bull there are literally little camps In Antarctica dealing with this better than Texas is
/raises hand in sad understanding….

Your right there. I can’t say anything to make it any *better* or any less severe/dangerous for our fellow residence who truly don’t know, have been brainwash, or willingly keep drinking that “Jonestown-like loop-aide.”

And my final planned posting for tonight…. The hours thru tonight in forecast….

2) Take note of the near constant wind speed & direction.
3) this storm arrived earlier than forecast. I’ll check in the very early morning to see how early the snow showed up from this forecast…

Good night y’all

Good morning folks. Here’s the first late morning update.
Yup. We got some snow. It’s cold, windy & more is still to fall.
Remember the blue counties are under 10% outages reporting, holy/yellow are 10-25% outages & the orange/red are above 25 to at least 55% outages … the texas one is over 34% & the Arkansas one is 54.5% reported outage.

Sadly my precipitation gauge is frozen over and stopped recording at the impressive level of 0.07” of freezing rain yesterday.

Started a little after 1PM on the truck & Jetta snow/ice removal.

Tools & winter gear has been prep’d for a few days. 2 minor errors. Even though I had both of them “in my hands & on my mind earlier this week.”
A) jar of Vaseline (to lightly coat the rubber door seals) this keeps them from freezing to the door frame & potentially ripping apart with part stuck to the door.
b) plug extension cord into engine’s block heater

It’s okay. Broke the entombed extension cord out of the ice and draped it and plugged in the trucks block heater 1st.

Started dusting the snow off both and testing the ice on door windows.

A couple of breaks and a inside break to swap out gloves due to fingers getting almost frostbite territory…

~90 minutes effort to clear the majority of ice from both windshields, both drivers & passenger doors & mirrors. Easily 1/2 inch ice under the snow on the hood & roof of the vehicles.

I’ll go out in a bit to at least test fire the truck. Let it warm up enough to make tomorrow’s start a cakewalk for the batteries.

The Winter Olympic Games start tonight on NBC… Jamaican bobsled team y’all?

Not that bad here. Turned the sprinkler on ~1:00am last night....have an ice skating rink now! :lau but at least the well isn't freezing up, haven't loss power so the electric blankets are working this time to keep the pipes from freezing in the well house.
Not that much accumulation of ice on anything, yet! 28°F, wind is 30mph, steady with gusts up to 43mph. Birds waters haven't frozen yet, either! Birds are pretty much in the sheltered area of their pens, only a few brave souls are out in the runs.
