Anyone in or near Collin County that will have Americaunas and/or EEs for sale come spring? Also thinking about getting a few Seabright Bantams (so beautiful), but I need to learn a little more about those. I fell in love with BB Reds, but learned too many don't survive after hatching. Open to info, suggestions, etc.!

I am in the Lavon/Nevada area.

And I'm a bit north of you. I will have Lavender AM's and I also have a couple of splits in with a black AM cockerel. Just started collecting eggs today from both for a hatch. I'm also doing SLW's and Black and Blue Copper Marans for dark eggs and not to SOP.

Catkai,
I got some SQ paint Silkie eggs I'm hatching.for NYD!! Prob not gonna keep all so when they hatch if you want some Lmk!

I just candled those I got a week ago and at 6 days I only see 3 for sure growing, maybe 4. Shipping an be hard on the little things, even with great packing... Let me know, I'd love to get a few! I have 17 blue Ameraucana eggs and 2 blue eggs from my Silkied Am splits, all are growing! I was not even going to hatch until the Spring... I am already planning for the next one after these...

I've had good and bad luck with shipped eggs. So awesome all your AMs are growing!! I decided not to use my blue roo on my Paul smith girls (well the owl made that decision for me) so I'm looking for a nice lavender, black or blue roo to place with them. We r so bad lol I am also planning on my next! I will have a full bator come 12/11! With welsummers, crested cream legbars, OE and silkies! Lol

Yep me too on the shipped eggs. Have had the full range of results but usually do ok. I am really happy with the 17 all growing, these are the 1st from this coop and I was not sure the boys were at work yet... Both my regular Ameraucana cockerel's are splash, the girls are blue and black. I will have Welsummer eggs in my next round :)

Sorry about the owl getting involved... We hear an owl now and then but so far have only lost 1 bird to a predator. Think that was a raccoon, last April when we had a pretty out of hand bunch come thru.

Where do you live in North Texas? My 15 yr old daughter wants some Easter Egg laying hens. I presently have 26 pullets (all brown egg layers and an Exotic I haven't identified. We are in Tyler area so could pick up chicks/hens. I am new to the chicken craze so don't know all the abbreviations.
