Lord this weather is nasty! Y'all stay safe!
So, we just got some rain and thunder... But man, I love the sunsets.

I’m tired….
Always have a plan.

Last year I wanted layers and got meat birds. This year, I'm hoping for meat and am getting more pullets. Afraid they will be harvested. I've got the flyer at the feed store with no takes. Right next to the flyer offering $5 silkies.

I took the steps to the coop away and put the ramp back. The silkie sits at the top of the ramp and I still have to show it to the roost. I think it slept on the floor last night. Doesn't always stay put. Still dodges under it's hatch mates, because they are twice the size of the cotton ball. I hope this one finds some semblance of grace. It is seriously lacking in the normal chicken grace. Might be the feathered feet. I wonder if they tickle. ;)
the Silkies had to be “placed” on the roosting rail OFTEN during the 1st year before it either seemed to dawn on them OR they just preferred to nest. Currently a couple will pancake out in the pine shaving mixed floor covering and then… all of a sudden, up on the roosting rail for a few nights … then just as quickly in the pod of the poop boards.

Our Silkies Currently?
2 hens on rail with roo
2 hens in one nesting box pancake’d out
1 hen full broody in the floor directly below the nesting boxes (even After I set her in the other nesting box).
1 hen (hoodini) has discovered a way to get out into the big flocks run and gets chased and mounted by Poledark (our Polish Roo that’s currently the lead Roo) and then hides up on a cinder block almost every evening and I have to pick her up and take her into the coop and set her in the poop board and let her decided where to goto sleep. This has been going on for about 2+ weeks now.
