Texas

I was going to read through this thread, but hey, I don't have the time for nearly 70 pages! woot! that's a lot of Texans! Yeah!
Anyway, I currently reside in Austin with my little flock of 6 chickens, 3 bantams- EE, Cochin and d'Uccle/Booted, and 3 layers- Production Red, Black Minorca, and EE. We got them from Callahans General Store (only place to get chicks this time of year, without going through mail order-then again they kinda are mail order, as Callahans gets them from Ideal, haha).

Though I was born in Arlington (between Dallas and Fort Worth), lived in San Marcos a couple times (go Bobcats!), and lived in Midland for a couple years (as well as Hawaii-my hubby was in the Navy), I have lived in Austin about 90% of my life, and love it here (except for the traffic of course!), & I definitely consider myself an Austinite. We have family and friends all over the Hill Country, from Fredericksburg (where we got married) to San Antonio, and also in Midland and Dallas...Just yesterday we went to the Heritage Homestead Craft and Children's Fair just north of Waco. It was GREAT! There chicken exhibit was neat, with incubators and homemade brooders, equipment for sale, a small flock of Delawares, and a few pairs of other breeds on display (plus some other poultry too). We had a lot of fun!

Anyway, glad to be here! Glad to see soo many Texans are here too!

Count me in, born and raised in Texas going on 40 years in a coupla of months. I was born in Dallas and lived there for the first 15 years of my life. Mom was a country girl at heart and wanted to come home to the Piney Woods. So we moved to San Augustine. Been here over 24 years now and have never wanted to move back to Big D. Mom and Dad passed away down here I got married after that and started a family of my own. The wife and I have 4 boys and 1 girl. We have 2 roos and 5 hens that are grown, your typical barnyard mutts, but hey, we get eggs. I built an incubator out of an old microwave and hatched 7 more barnyard mutts out of 10 eggs. I'm working on a fridge bator now and should be done with it this week. But all in all, this is home. Who knew there was a country boy inside this city boy.

Texas weather : If you dont like the weather, wait 15 minutes, it'll change.

Arlington... smack in the middle of DFW.

I finally found my Texas Buds on BYC. I have been on this site for about a year now looking around, and just signed up yesterday. I was born in Corsicana TX and moved to Waco then SanMarcos and I am a big Bobcat fan. For the last 14 years I have lived in New Braunfels off 306. We have so many animals I cound not remember them all to list. My wife and son are animal nuts. We do have 6 beautiful hens and 1 big bad roster. Anyway its good to know there are more of yall closer than I thought on here. Happy Holidays!!
