I tried to get on the map... I'm in Wichita Falls. No dots near me

Hi!

My dot should be near you, unless it got moved around somehow. That seems to happen to some people sometimes.

I live in Crowell, about 80 miles or so from Wichita Falls.

they only get to be 5 to 6 feet tall.. and those two evil boys are the biggest snuggle puppies you would ever meet.. they put my dogs and geese to shame!.. both of them LOVE hugs.. and will put their heads on my shoulder and fall asleep while they are getting petted.

of all the ratites . emus are the friendliest. an adult male ostrich has no problems with attacking and even killing a person.. cassowary are even worse.

lol... 7 foot chicken.. try 6 foot dinosaur instead!

Our cassowary at work is so mean. He chases the goats, honks at anyone that walks by, and pecks your fingers any time you reach in to latch/open his shift.

The three emus we have aren't very nice either :( but I am sure its due to their raising.

Oops. Just checked the map and my marker did indeed get moved.

Greetings y'all.... i have a question... HOPEFULLY SOMEONE CAN HELP! i have 2 RIR, 1 EE and a bantam Cochin chick. I got the bantam in November of 2012... so I'm not rushing her. I had 1 RIR that was producing until November. Then she stopped completely. The other 3 have not started yet... the young RIR and the EE should be 1 in May... when should i expect them to start laying? Did anyone Else's chicks stop laying in the winter?

Thanks from Sugarland!!!
Most of mine stopped laying this winter. Some of my Marans and EEs kept laying though. I'm getting a few eggs now but not back to normal yet. I did add lights on a timer mid winter but couldn't tell a big difference.

They will probably start back laying any day now. Good luck!

That's exactly the sort of place I was looking for. Actually up to about 40 acres but some of that was just dreaming, 5 would've been plenty. This place is only .75 acres (a little more if you count my share of the street) but the price and timing were right. It's enough room that I can have a garden, some pets, and all that other stuff apartment dwellers struggle with.
Well you should look at the real estate out here then! Sure it is mesquit ridden, but if you could clear them out and plant a few nice shade or fruit trees with some potting soil I think it would be good. The land out here was cotton farm for ages, so the soil quality is not very good. We call it clay creet after it rains. Once that mud gets stuck to something, it gets hard when it dries lol. But it is nice. I planted some clover and rye grass and both are growing in my chicken and dog run. Get to work on your nitrogen fixation clovers!!!!
New Texas girl. Tomball, sort of a suburb of Houston. 12 hopefully baby hens nearly two weeks old. Finally unrestricted. We had more acreage at our last place, but chickens were restricted by HOA. Only horses allowed.
Congrats on the new babies!!!

Good morning everyone! Beautiful, chilly, and clear in my neck of the woods. Hope everyone has a great day!
I opened the window last night, heater got too hot for me, and I loved it! Nice and snug and warm under the covers with cool air on my face. Cat enjoyed it too because that meant he could go outside. DH wasn't happy this morning, he is cold lol
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Good morning! Starting out a little chilly, but it's gonna be a nice one. I have the day off

I have plenty to do though!
Today is DH and my day off as well. We are going to make the door to my chicken pen, put in a few job applications, and possibly paint the coop again. =)

I don't have today off - but! I have tomorrow off so I can go pick up our Silver Grey Dorkings....here's hoping they have five toes, serrated combs and look at least a wee bit rectangular...I can deal with crappy plummage at the start, as long as the foundation is there....**crosses fingers**
