Texas

Well, I have arrived home with 20 dorking chicks...adorable little buggers....

I'm off to go check for "eyeliner"...maybe tell what these little guys are. I tell you what, the difference in behavior between these guys and all the other chicks is amazing. So far, not a one of them has tried to run away from me; and, all sit very quietly on my hand while I handle them. No need to hold them down or wait for them to calm down...just sweet as pie.

We won't talk about the three crested Polish I got talked into, though.....

now.. how are you going to decide which of those guys are mine?.....

and no.. i don't want the polish.. you saw what the polish hens and my silkie roo did!

I'm starting to like you already.

Thanks! :) Of course, our home team is the NY Giants, but we won't mention that. The girls still have a hard time understanding that Eli Manning also has a brother that plays football, lol. We just recently managed to convince them that Derek Jeter only plays baseball and is not also on the Giants so we have a ways to go.

XD that is chicken math in action!

I am glad they are so sweet! Do you know what color polish you got?

I have no idea...two of them are a yellow colour and the other is black with bits of grey.

No, I figure I'm stuck with the Polish - though, I'm tempted to go back and get that Silkie boy just so I can recreate "Ugly Boy"

And, I just picked 'em up and slapped a ring on 'em...So, it's anyone's guess....but, they just sat there and let me photograph them and put rings on them as sweet as you please. No trying to run off or anything. My husband says he wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't see it, himself - the difference in the behaviour of these guys straight out of the egg compared to the others.

Get a bunch of little silkies. No one could look them in the face and banish them.

I know someone that was sitting on their front steps petting their silkie, and the neighbor came by.... "Nice kitten!" they said. "Um thanks!" said my friend. Someone needs glasses!

I think what they don't know about in the back yard is my business alone. I hope?

I love frogs and toads!.. even more when they surprise me cause then I know they have found a happy place here. Since the drought a few years back the frog and toad spotting has been more like a rare sighting of an endangered creature.. *sighs*
I love F&T too, used to keep them as pets when I was a girl in a giant mayonnaise jar for a few days and then release them. I never see them anymore, thank you over development. They are so helpful for the garden though, so I always put out a toad house flower pot anyway. It's more an act of hope at this stage.

My mother works in her garden on property that has rattlers, copperheads and cotton mouths. I was sitting next to her one day when I saw her reach out and flick her finger....at which point it registered in my tiny brain what she'd just done.

A bloody cotton mouth had been laying in her garden. She flicked its tail to make it move out of her way. Just *flick*...and, it slithered over to the other side of the garden, sweet as you please. **shakes head** That woman is something else.

When my son was out there, visiting, she would always make sure she was with him when he was outside. They made a game of seeing the snakes and she stressed how important it was he not touch them, chase them or go near them. They were pretties that he could watch but not handle. He never tried; but, I've heard horror stories of children who have. **shudders**
Now you have all done a good job of scaring me. I absolutely have to have Guinea Hens now! I don't *mind* snakes exactly but I don't love them either. I certainly don't want them biting my daughters. Yeesh.
